Isoflavones (Red Clover)

Isoflavones are antioxidant plant phyto-estrogens such as glycinin, daidzin, glycetin, and genistin. They are a viable alternative to synthetic hormones and modulate a woman’s level of estrogen. Isoflavones elevate estrogen levels in conditions where they are low, such as during menopause. In cases where estrogen levels are high, such as during breast cancer, the isoflavones lower the level of estrogen. They do this by stealing receptor sites where a woman’s own more powerful estrogen would have bound. This helps a woman’s body maintain an equilibrium level. Studies show that the use of isoflavones helps with hot flashes, vaginal thinning and dryness as well as breast cancer. A more recent study has also found that the isoflavones found in red clover may have cardiovascular benefits for menopausal women. Each daily dosage of two capsules contains 150mg of isoflavones. Black Cohosh Extract

Black Cohosh shares with isoflavones the advantage over estrogen therapy of not stimulating breast tumors: quite the opposite: it markedly inhibits them.

Chaste Tree Berry Extract

The queen of female tonics, this herb is the greatest hormone balancer, it balances the ratio of estrogen to progesterone and so helps treat some of the underlying causes of many of the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause.

Dong Quai Extract

It is an herb with a long history in China as a female remedy. Dong Quai’s role as a cardiovascular and hormonal tonic, as well as a nervine, makes it a useful herb in any menopause formula. Lacking any estrogen properties itself, Dong Quai normalizes hormones through its action on blood vessels, the liver and the endocrine system. It is a strengthening and nourishing herb that is good for easing into menopause and for difficulties that arise during menopause.

Dandelion Root Extract

The liver is an important organ for the production, regulation and detoxification of hormones, so dandelion, a major liver herb, is a valuable addition to our Femeno formula.

Wild Yam Extract

Wild Yam normalizes hormone production and regulates the balance of estrogen and progesterone, making it a useful herb for menopause. Since it helps the liver, wild yam is especially useful when not only the reproductive system, but also the liver is behind the hormone imbalance.
