Description
Echinacea was the remedy of the Native American Indians from the Plains. They used it for wounds, infections, and insect and snakebites. The purple Coneflower is a member of the sunflower family. The three most common species are Echinacea Angustifolia, Echinacea Purpurea, and Echinacea Pallida. In the United States, the roots of Echinacea Angustifolia have been used traditionally. Europe has performed more studies with fresh plant extracts of Echinacea Purpurea.
Action
Echinacea has been used to boost the immune system, to help speed wound healing, to reduce inflammations, and to treat colds, flus and infections. Many of the active components of Echinacea have antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Echinacea has also been used externally to cleanse and heal wounds, eczema, burns, psoriasis, herpes, vaginitis, canker sores, abscesses, and other skin conditions. Recent research has indicated that Echinacea has potent antitumor activity and helps stimulate the immune system to destroy cancer cells.
Echinacea is used as an immune stimulator for colds and flus, sluggish immune systems, inflammation, analgesic, sedative, antispasmodic, also to relieve pain and swelling, edema, water retention. It is an antiviral, good for infections, sore throats, strep throats, eye and ear infections, wound healing and cleansing, anticancer, snake and insect bites, scratches, boils, abscesses, gangrene, ulcerations, sores, tonsillitis, inflammed gums, mucus problems, urticaria (external wash), antibiotic, allergies, stimulation of adrenal cortex and increase cortisol release.
Suggested Use
Take 1 or 2 capsules twice daily with meals, or as directed by your Health Care Practitioner.
